Ribbonwood

dwelling

Where does one activity start and another end?

Ribbonwood challenges the relationship between body and space by using the central structure of the ‘ribbon’ to connect the spaces in-between and activities performed within this dwelling. Identity and well being are the driving factors to the form of the ribbon structure. This idea materialised off the concept of sitting on the floor. There are many purposes for doing activities on the floor and a positive feeling is generated by doing so because your body is more connected to its surrounding space.

This ribbon structure has a variety of uses ranging from the main access way, to the dining table, to storage, a laundry chute, toilet, shower and general sitting and working space. These connections make Ribbonwood dwelling challenging to the user by having the same surface for eating, sleeping and cleaning.
